Mount Floyen
Visiting the enormous Mount Floyen makes for a great day out. First jump on the funicular which will transport you safely to the peak of the mountain, where you can enjoy spectacular views of Bergen and its surrounding districts. In the summer months the funicular can get very busy, so it is advisable to arrive early and take the 9.15am train to beat the crowds. In the winter months Mount Floyen becomes a popular area for sledging, and a special sledging pass can be purchased for NOK 140 for adults and NOK 70 for children which allows unlimited trips on the funiculars. Standard return tickets cost NOK 70 for adults and NOK 35 for children.
top ↑Hanseatic Museum
The Hanseatic museum is located in the oldest preserved wood building in Bergen. It acts as an interactive museum, which allows visitors to get a glimpse of what life was truly like for merchants living in Bergen from as early as 1360. Entrance for adults is NOK 20, while all children are admitted free of charge. The museum is within walking distance from Bergen's fish market.

The Bryggen Wharf is an area of natural beauty and historical importance, here you can happily spend several hours taking in the sights and experiencing authentic Norwegian culture. This area has been classified as a UNSECO world heritage sight since 1970. There are also numerous restaurants, gift-shops and cafes located in the wharf area.

This is a must for any art lovers - The Bergen Art Gallery is the largest in the city, displaying some of the finest works of art from celebrated Norwegian artists. Exhibitions are put on and can change frequently, so check the website for details. The museum is located in the heart of the city, by the beautiful Lille Lungegård lake. Admission costs NOK 80 for adults and children under 16 are free of charge.

The Flam railway route offers a scenic journey through the idyllic Norwegian countryside. The journey last 20 minutes, during which time you will pass cliffs, waterfalls and mountains - so have your camera at the ready! The train departs from Mydren Mountain station in Bergen and finishes at Flam station, and both return and single tickets can be purchased. The cost for a single trip for adults is NOK 230, while children's tickets cost NOK 115, a special discounted family return pass is available for NOK 850, but make sure you book in advance to secure your place as it can get very busy.

Bergen's famous church is also one of the most stunning in the city. Originally built in the 12th century this Romanesque style church boasts a beautifully decorative interior. Entrance is free of charge, but check opening times in advance as they are prone to change depending on the time of year.
