Mount Ulriken
February is a beautiful time to take a trip up to the snow covered peaks of Mount Ulriken. The dizzying heights of the mountain allow visitors to see for miles on a clear day.
Borealis International Music Festival
This music festival showcases Norway's finest contemporary musicians, from opera singers to orchestral bands, it has it all. The festival is spread out over 5 days, with a finale concert held on the Saturday. A full pass costs NOK 650, and day passes can be brought for NOK 225.
New Years Day
Enjoy the quiet streets of Bergen on the national holiday of New Years Day. Most retail shops are closed but several coffee shops remain open in the heart of the city and offer a quiet place to relax if you have had a heavy night.

Barbed Wire Festival
This 2 day festival is for all the heavy rockers out there, attracting many bands and fans nationwide. The festival is known as Piggtrådfestivalen in Norwegian and tickets can be purchased online from the website.
Seven Mountain Walk
For adventurous souls, test your strength and stamina by taking part in the 7 mountain walk, which is organized by the Bergen Hike Society. The gruelling walk covers 30km of mountainous land in a day, but you are rewarded with stunning scenery and views from 2200 metres above sea level. If this sounds like to much hard work then a shorter guided walk is also organised which covers 15km.
Bergen International Festival
The Bergen International festival is one of the oldest festivals in the city. It is primarily a music festival featuring bands, singers and musicians from across the country, but it also has several performing art shows over the 2 weeks that the festival is spread out over. Tickets start from just NOK 15, for adults, and a special pass can be purchased which allows unlimited entry in to the festival.
Lost Weekend
The lost weekend is a three day international music festival which sees some of the worlds largest bands take to the stage. There is music to suit all tastes from blues and jazz to dance and rock. Weekend passes cost NOK 1,100, while day passes are NOK 600. The festival is located on the island of Askøy, which can be reached via the frequent ferry services that run from the mainland area of Bergen.
Raptus Comic Festival
The Comic Festival takes place over the whole month of September, from midday to 8pm. It features a large amount of classic and modern comic books for sale, and has several lectures from some of the worlds leading comic book authors. The comic festival is held in Torgallmenningen, which is within walking distance from Bergen city centre.
International Film Festival
The Bergen International Film Festival is one of the most respected in the country, running for seven days in October. During that time a number of films by new and established talent are shown, all competing for the critics attention. Tickets are available via the BIFF website.
