Helsinki - Overview
The city of Helsinki is located in Southern Finland. It is the countries capital city and covers a total area of 725.55km2. Not only is it the largest city in Finland, but it is also known as the economic, commercial and tourist centre of the country, with much to offer its visitors. Helsinki has two official languages: Swedish and Finnish, but you will find that most people in tourist areas speak fluent English. Helsinki is the most northerly capital city in the European Union, and the national currency used is the euro (EUR). Foreign currency can be changed on arrival at the airport, in large hotels, or in several foreign exchange booths, which are located in the city centre.

Helsinki enjoys a temperate climate in summer, with averages of 19°C - 21°C degrees. Because of Finland's positioning, Helsinki enjoys 19 hours of sunlight a day in the summer months.
