Airport Transfers

The cheapest way to travel from the McCarran International Airport into the city centre is by airport shuttle. With many companies offering competitive rates a round trip will get you from the airport to your hotel and back for around $12. The shuttle buses can be found outside exits 7 -13 and they run 7 days a week. Taxis also provide airport transfer services for an extra pick up charge of $1.80.

The Regional Transport Commission runs 36 routes in and around Las Vegas making it easy to get about the city by bus. The most popular RTC route is the Deuce line which runs the length of the Las Vegas Boulevard, every 10 to 20 minutes depending on the time of day. Stopping at almost every hotel and casino along the Strip, it is the cheapest and often most convenient form of transport. Standard tickets can be bought from the driver for $3 and are valid for 2 hours; however passes valid up to 30 days can be bought in advance.
top ↑Las Vegas Trolley

For those in less of a rush to get around the Las Vegas trolley is the way to travel. An old style tram car with wooden seats, it runs every 20 minutes and stops at all the hotels and casinos. Tickets can be bought from the driver for $2.50 for a single ride and 3 or 4 day passes can be purchased in advance.

The Las Vegas monorail system is an overland line of four miles that runs the length of the Strip. Fully air-conditioned, it is the fastest way to travel the full distance between the MGM Grand and Bally’s/ Paris Las Vegas station. There are seven stops on the line, all of which are located towards the rear of the casinos, and a travel time of 15 minutes. Single ride tickets can be purchased as well as one and three day passes.
top ↑On Foot

The best way to see the Las Vegas Strip and take in its lively atmosphere is by walking. The Strip is four miles long and will take about an hour to walk if not stopping along the way. The oppressive heat can make walking quite uncomfortable in the summer and there are heavy fines, $190, for jaywalking (crossing the road at an undesignated place).

There are plentiful taxis in Las Vegas so there is rarely a problem with catching one. It is a legal requirement for all taxis to be metered and there is a standard pick up charge of $3.30. Each mile will cost the passenger $2.40 and it is obligatory to wear a seatbelt if one is available. Taxis are not allowed to pick passengers up off the strip so head to any hotel or casino where there will be a taxi rank.

Several hotels offer a free tram service however these generally only run between hotels within the same group. The most popular being the Mandalay bay – Luxor – Excalibur and The Mirage – Treasure Island trams. A free city tram also runs from Monte Carlo station to the Bellagio.
