Half term Events

Every year the City of Manchester Stadium puts on a whole host of events to keep the little ones entertained. This includes competitions, fashions shows, fun sporting events and workshops. Children go free when accompanied by a full paying adult.

Manchester International Tattoo Show

The International Tattoo Show is the largest in the area, featuring no less than 110 of the countries greatest tattoo artists. The show includes competitions, a graffiti wall and an art display area. Day tickets are £20 per adult, or £35 will get you a full weekend pass.

Manchester European Film Festival

A five day festival which showcases films from both up and coming and established movie-makers in a relaxed environment. Members of the pubic are welcome to come to the screenings, but tickets must be purchased in advance.

Chinese New Year

Celebrate the Chinese New Year in style in the Chinatown district of the city, where the streets become filled with colourful decorations, and lively revellers. The finale of the festival is marked with a impressive firework display.

Great Manchester Run

In mid-March hundreds of participants take part in the 10km Bupa Manchester run, to raise money for charity. Anyone can race, but you must register in advance to secure your place and ensure you have enough time to fund-raise for the charity of your choice.

Carnival Pangaea

Young music lovers will love this one night party which is held in Manchester's student union. The event features several well known dance and reggae acts, along with fancy dress competitions and colourful floats in a lively atmosphere. Tickets cost from £8 - £16 (depending on how far in advance you purchase them), and the music continues until 3am.

Oldham Vintage Car Festival

This festival is a must for any car lovers out there, as it includes hundreds of prestigious and rare vintage cars that come to be admired for the weekend. The festival is located in Oldham town, which is just outside of the city centre.

North Manchester Music Festival

The much loved North Manchester Music Festival provides a platform for up and coming talented bands, singers and musicians. The event attracts over 15,000 visitors, and admission to all of the performances is completely free of charge.

Manchester MEN Arena

So the summer is coming to end, but what better way to celebrate than to go to a live concert. The MEN arena always has huge performances from all types of musical artists. Check the website for details on who is performing when you visit.

Manchester Literary Festival

This exiting 11 day literary festival features some of Europe’s most talented authors, who come to read extracts and sign their latest books.

Stitch & Creative Craft Show

This 23 day annual event attracts art-lovers and creative types, who come to learn new crafts and shop for hand-made items and supplies. The show has several demonstrations by craft experts, and popular crafts at the event include crochet, card making, knitting, beading and quilting.

Manchester European Christmas Markets

From the end of November up until Christmas, the Manchester Christmas markets are open. They attract vendors from all over Europe who come to sell their handmade and traditional items, along with special regional foodstuffs.
