Ski racing

People of all ages can enter the City of Lakes Loppet, a 35 km cross-country ski race through the magnificent snow covered lakes and trails of the Twin Cities. For those not feeling up to the gruelling race there are shorter events and plenty for spectators to get involved in too.

The Science Museum of Minnesota

The Science Museum of Minnesota in Minneapolis celebrates, each March, the contributions of American Indians to the discipline. Visitors to the event can get involved in the interactive activities, workshops and see the informative exhibitions.

Art in Bloom

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts has been presenting Art in Bloom for nearly three decades. The beautiful four day event showcases the work of the best floral artists in the country with fragrant works of art displayed as well as workshops, lectures and demonstrations.

St. Paul Winter Carnival

With nothing usually happening in January, the St. Paul Winter Carnival brings some post-Christmas fun to the Twin Cities. Ice carving competitions, half marathons and different parades all feature at the event which goes on for just over a week.

NEMAA

The Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association throws open its doors every May with over 400 artists including, painters, musicians, potters and tile makers all opening their studios to the public. Works are also displayed in various venues, such as cafés and galleries around Northeast Minneapolis.

Hot Summer Jazz Festival

In the stuffy month of June head down to the Hot Summer Jazz Festival in Mears Park, St. Pauls and listen to the soothing sounds of jazz and blues whilst enjoying a cold drink or two. Attracting top international and local musicians the festival was established in 1999.

Taste of Minnesota

For foodies a Taste of Minnesota is the festival to be at. The four day event offers up culinary wonders from all over the world, including treats from Minnesota’s best restaurants. With live entertainment, music concerts and firework displays, the festival has something for all the family.

Minnesota Fringe Festival

Held at a number of venues throughout the city of Minneapolis the Minnesota Fringe Festival is the largest of its kind in the U.S. Shows are limited to 60 minutes or less and are an unadulterated adventure into the performing arts.

Minnesota State Fair

The whole state heads to the Twin Cities for the annual Minnesota State Fair. The massive event involves agricultural and livestock shows, a huge funfair as well as a music concert and art show. Families are particularly welcome and there is much to keep the children amused.

Twin Cities Black Film Festival

Celebrating the best in cinema made by, or about, people of African descent is the four day Twin Cities Black Film Festival. Of particular interest to the festivals organisers are bold, fresh and innovative cinematic works from any genre. Screenings are held in a variety of venues throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul

Thanksgiving day

Start the holiday feeling early with Thanksgiving and the Holiday Lights in the Park display in Phalen Park, St. Paul. The spectacular display of over a million lights can be enjoyed as you drive around the park and the event raises money for local charities.

Holidazzle Parade

The highly anticipated Holidazzle Parade takes place annually in the Twin Cities every December. The brightly lit floats wind their way through the streets with marching bands and of course, the main attraction, Santa Claus!
