Faschingsumzug
February sees the arrival of one of Munich’s most loved festivals: Faschingsumzug. The event features hundreds of brightly decorated floats along with thousands of locals, who form a parade that travels through the heart of the city.
New Year Concert
Celebrate the first day of the New Year in style, at a spectacular classical concert held in the cities Schloss Nymphenburg area. The concert starts at 7:30pm, and all tickets must be purchased in advance.

Holiday On Ice
The Holiday On Ice Show tours around Germany from December - March. This spectacular shows features talented performers who tell a story through an impressive dance performance that is entirely on ice.
May Day
The May-Day weekend sees Munich’s Mariahilf Platz transformed into a busy market filled with antiques, collectibles and odd bric-a-brac.
Pentecost Festival
A completely free music festival which features numerous local bands perform in the beautiful Olympia Park, on the Theatron stage which overlooks a pretty lake.
The Munich City Run
The famous annual city run sees hundreds of participants race for the finish line in a series of running courses, including a half-marathon for serious runners, or a 5km walking route for the less sporty types.
Munich Film Festival
Perhaps one of the biggest and most respected film festivals in Germany, is the Munich International Film Festival. Over 150 films are screened each year, and it is open to members of the public. Check the website for what’s on and ticketing information.
Movies, Moon & Stars
A delightful way to spend a summers evening is at the special organised Moon and Stars event, where many people gather to have a picnic and watch a movie in the beautiful outdoor cinema.
Oktoberfest
Quite possibly the largest beer festival in the world is the Oktoberfest celebrations, which attract over six million people every year. Ocktoberfest is an important part of German Culture, with traditional ales and beers served up alongside authentic German cuisine.
Long Night Of The Museums
Munich does its own take on the famous European night of the museums. On one day only, over 90 of the cities museums stay open until the early hours of the morning, and just one ticket will get you special entry to all.
